Longines Calatrava

SOLD

Description

Founded in 1832, Longines is widely recognized as one of the most treasured and pre-eminent watchmakers on the planet. Their chronograph movements, most notably the 13zn and 30ch are considered some of the best and most groundbreaking movements of all time. In that same breath, the 12.68 movement for their time-only watches was one of the highest quality movements available during this era of watchmaking. Today, Longines is an institution.

The present example we offer you now is a gorgeous example of these rare, time-only “Caltrava” style watches. Whereas most of the Longines Calatravas you see popping up these days have refinished dials, this one has gone unmolested for over 70 years.

Trust us, this is one of those watches that just puts a smile on your face – it wears like a dream, and it doesn’t hurt that it comes from one of the most renowned watchmakers of all time.

From Longines:

The original serial number 5’670’061 identifies a wristwatch in stainless steel. It is fitted with a Longines manually wound mechanical movement, caliber 12.68Z. It was invoiced on 5 November 1938 to the company Ostersetzer, which was at that time our agent for Italy.
