Heuer “Decimal” Carrera

SOLD

Description

Up for grabs is a lovely example of the popular Heuer Carrera, reference 2447D (D designated the “decimal” dial, used for measuring efficiency in industrial environments).  These 1960s Carrera remain immensely collectible, and draw similar design and mechanical comparisons to the Rolex Daytona, using the same Valjoux 72 movement.  This example is a 2nd execution, with a serial of 91xxx.

The condition on this Heuer Carrera is very good. The case has been lightly polished in the past, but still retains its original beveled edges.  The dial is very attractive, with little wear, and has a beautiful two-tone appearance due to the metallic color of the outer tachy ring/decimal scale, contrasted with the silver-sunburst inner-dial.  The original tritium lume is still present on the dial and hands, aged to an off-yellow color on the dial, and a shade darker in the hands.
