Rolex “Gilt 5513” Submariner

SOLD

Description

Up for grabs is a gorgeous example of a gilt-dial Rolex Submariner, Ref. 5513, circa 1966 (1.3m serial).  This dial variant is the last version of the gilt dial, before Rolex transitioned to the matte dial around 1967.  The watch itself is in fantastic condition.  The case appears unpolished, still showing the original beveled edges, with a thick and even case, and normal wear.  The dial is beautiful and super glossy, with very light wear, only visible under a loupe, and retains the factory “mirror”-like finish.  The original tritium lume is present on the dial and hands, matching and aged to a golden yellow.  The bezel insert is correct for the era, and has minimal wear, and has aged to a lovely and natural faded “ghost” appearance.  The watch comes on its original 6636 Rolex stretch-rivet bracelet, with 80 endlinks, and is in great condition with no stretch, and has 12 full links.
