Rolex “Paul Newman” Daytona

SOLD

Description

Offered here is a beautiful example of Rolex Daytona, Ref. 6241 (circa 1967; 1.7m serial), fitted with an exotic dial, nicknamed the “Paul Newman” Daytona, due to the fact that the famous actor favored wearing the Rolex Daytona with the exotic dial, and can be seen in many photographs wearing the watch.  This example is outfitted with a reverse-panda dial, and features pump pushers and a black bakelite bezel.

The condition of this Daytona is great. The case has been previously polished, but lightly, with thick and even lugs. The dial is in beautiful condition, with no scratches, chips, marks, etc.  The original tritium lume is still present on both dial and hands, with extremely beautiful and puffy, yellow plots, and no visible loss whatsoever.  The original crystal shows some light wear, and can be changed upon request. The bakelite bezel is likewise in excellent condition, with no cracks or major scratches.

The watch comes on a Rolex C&I Rivet bracelet, dated to 1974, with 12 full links, and shows some wear.
